This week in Science we worked on CER (Claim, Evidence, & Reasoning) and started our study on Matter. In Social Studies we continued to work on Geographical concepts, such as how to read maps, using maps and identifying types of maps.

This week in Science, we finished our unit on Waves and tested on Thursday. In Social Studies, we have started our unit on Mesopotamia. We looked at the geographic aspects of this ancient civilization.
We continued our unit on Mesopotamia. Due to testing and changing schedules last week, we continued last weeks Do Now's and Lessons into this week.
Week of Nov. 9-13
We tested on Ancient Egypt & Mesopotamia in the beginning of the week. We spent Thursday organizing our science section of our binders. Friday we started on our unit on sound waves.
This week in Science we continued our study of Matter. We focused on states of matter & their changes and what makes up matter. In Social Studies we focused on the importance of studying history, what historians do and how history is written.
This week in Social Studies, we looked at the 6 big ideas in history: Government, Geography, Religion, Economy, Achievements & Social Classes. We did stations for each of the big ideas of Mesopotamia. We also looked at some primary sources from the Ancient Mesopotamian time, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh and Hammurabi's Code.
This week we discussed Ancient Egypt and the big ideas of history. We completed stations (See Attached) and watched video clips about both Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. A study guide was sent home Thursday for the test that will be next Tuesday.
This week in science we have talked about sound. We learned about how sound travels, how we hear sound, how we make sound and how sound can be changed. We took lots of notes on the ears and vocal cords.
